The Experiment

Will AI take over football? Which AI model would make the best manager? And can they consistently defeat a human opponent?

At Scout Digital we’ve decided to make a thought experiment real, by pitting the latest and greatest AI models against each other in a classic Fantasy Premier League head-to-head. The premise is simple, each AI model is given the exact same prompt and asked to select their own FPL team. There’s no human guidance or intervention. Each week, using the same prompt, each model can make transfers, use their chips and select their team.

The ultimate goal, to find out which AI model makes the best football manager.

Throughout the season we’ll provide updates, analysis and even manager interviews as we explore just how far AI can go in the pursuit of FPL success

The Human Player

Scout Statto

Scout Statto literally wrote the book on football. The Guiness Book of Football that is. A die-hard fan, he’s been following the game for decades and has seen everything from x to y. Scout Statto will be taking on the world’s best AI models in an attempt to prove there’s life in the old species yet. We’ll be bringing you updates, stats and interviews on Scout Statto’s performance throughout the season.

The Rules

Each AI model has been set up with their own team

  • The AI models will follow the standard FPL rules
  • The AI models compete across the whole season in their own FPL league
  • One human player – Scout Statto – will be flying the flag for humanity
  • The same exact prompt is given to each AI at the same time
  • The latest model of each AI is used wherever possible
  • In-season model updates are allowed, meaning we’ll always use the latest version
  • The human player has no visibility on the AI team choices
